Houston Green Tour – On February 18, 2011, the Tom Bass Building was part of the 2011 Houston Green Tour. Approximately 45 people attended the Open House style event. Each month the public is invited to visit and tour a “LEED Certified” building. “LEED Certified” means that several “Green” environmental factors were incorporated into the construction of the building. GHC’s 9-1-1 facility attained a Silver LEED Certification. A very informative handout was provided for visitors so that they could learn more about the Green features of the Tom Bass Building.
BEIJING DELIGATION
Beijing Delegation – GHC 9-1-1 hosted a presentation and tour of its headquarters on Friday March 11, 2011 for a 23 member delegation from Beijing, China. The delegation also met with several groups within the City of Houston and Harris County. The delegation represented the Department of IT and Economy, one of the most powerful arms of the Beijing Municipal Government. The Department of IT and Economy oversees the IT and communications infrastructure of the city government, which is in charge of communicating information to Beijing’s vast populace. The visitors learned about how GHC provides the overall 9-1-1 infrastructure for its jurisdictions.
