Community Events

The Networks receives requests from schools districts, private schools, civic clubs, and numerous community organizations for 9-1-1 representation at a booth or presentation at various public safety and health fairs throughout the Networks' territory.

Examples of some of these events are:

  • Neighborhood Night out events in August

  • Law Enforcement fairs at malls

  • Jewish Community Baby Fair

  • Community-wide events at parks, businesses, etc.

9-1-1 Educators In Action

The education of the proper usage of 9-1-1 would not be made possible without the participation of several individuals who dedicate their time at community events, safety/health fairs and presentations all throughout the year. These individuals who work full time at the 9-1-1 call centers throughout the GHC 9-1-1 territory; have worked throughout the year at numerous events to distribute educational materials to the community. Many of these community outreach events are held during weekends and evenings. GHC 9-1-1 is very appreciative of their participation which has contributed greatly to 9-1-1 public education program.
At the December 14, 2011 GHC 9-1-1 Board of Managers meeting, the following individuals were recognized for their dedication to educating the community about 9-1-1:

Desiree Gautier (Harris County Sheriff’s Office)
Regina Cochran (Harris County Sheriff’s Office)
Crystal Weems (HEC)
Courtney Wilkinson (HEC)
Patricia Curtis (HEC)

Below are a few pictures from community events over the last few years:
